The 3rd meeting of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy was successfully held on January 13. The meeting summarized the main work and achievements of Shanghai Academy in 2017, analyzed the main problems arising from the development of Shanghai Academy as a new-type think tank, and reviewed the proposals about revision to the constitution and adjustment in the members of the Academic Affairs Committee. It also deployed the main work for 2018, and discussed the good experience and practice in institutional innovation, expansion of the channels for outcome release and talent introduction. Zhang Jiang, former Vice President of CASS and Director of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, chaired the meeting.

Li Peilin, Vice President of CASS, member of the CASS Party group and President of Shanghai Academy, fully affirmed the achievements that Shanghai Academy has made over the past year in academic research, special activities, international exchanges, and talent training. He also noted that Shanghai Academy must establish brand awareness and hold brand activities exclusive to Shanghai Academy, so as to improve its reputation and influence and better serve Shanghai’s economic and social development. In 2018, Shanghai Academy shall continue to uphold Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, earnestly implement the spirit of the report delivered at the 19th CPC National Congress, and make active moves. It shall innovate in institutional construction, activate new drivers, improve the comprehensive quality of employees, and enhance its core competence as a new-type think tank, in an effort to make greater contribution to Shanghai’s construction as a global city of excellence.

Jin Donghan, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shanghai University, Director of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, Ding Xiaodong, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, Ma Yuan, Director of the Bureau of Scientific Research Management of CASS and member of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, Huang Xiaoyong, Dean of the Graduate School of CASS and member of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, Wen Xueguo, former Executive Vice President of Shanghai Academy and member of the Academic Affairs Committee, Ji Weimin, Deputy Director of CASS’s Institute of Journalism and Communication and member of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, Yan Shuang, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and member of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, Ruan Qing, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Development & Reform Commission and member of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, Jin Weimin, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Finance Bureau and member of the Academic Affairs Committee of Shanghai Academy, and Li Youmei, First Vice President of Shanghai Academy and member of the Academic Affairs Committee, attended the meeting, and respectively gave suggestions about the development of Shanghai Academy.
