Shanghai Academy firmly follows Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for A New Era. It aims to build "four tops" - a top thinktank, a top talent training base, a top platform for international exchange and a top national situation investigation base.    

Reason: Who We Are

Shanghai Academy is a research institute co-founded by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Shanghai municipal people’s government on June 5, 2015. It implements the president’s responsibility system under the leadership of the Board of Trustees which is the supreme decision-making organ. It also has the Academic Committee as the supreme academic review organ. 

Research: What We Do

Shanghai Academy carries out independent research and outreach to better serve Shanghai and the nation. It works with a broad array of institutions, including communities, civil society groups, private sector organizations and governments through participatory research, collaborative platforms and formal partnerships.

Relevance: How We Do It

Through public meetings and events, traditional media and social media, publications and a wide range of outreach activities, Shanghai Academy is engaged in the global dialogue of ideas.
