Optimizing the Spatial Structure of Population Shall be Optimized in Shanghai’s Population Regulation
[Abstract]
In November 2015, Zhang Chewei, Director and research fellow of the Institute of Population and Labor Economics, CASS, led a team to Shanghai for the investigation about population regulation. Based on the research report by the project team, the Key Reference will publish report series in four consecutive issues to focus on population regulation in Shanghai.
The article entitled Optimizing the Spatial Structure of Population Shall be Optimized in Shanghai’s Population Regulation holds the view that Shanghai shall not make the population size the top objective in population regulation, but shall resort to the optimization of the spatial structure of population, view population distribution as the result of economic and social development and realize the rational layout of population through re-deployment of industries and economic activities.
