This issue of Key Reference Special publishes an article entitled Kim Jin-Pyo Calls for Closer Cooperation between China and South Korea. The article points out that at present, the "Belt and Road" Initiative has developed greatly in the western segment, but there is still much room for improvement in the eastern segment. On April 18, Kim Jin-Pyo, former Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea, and his party visited Shanghai Academy. When exchanging opinions about such topics as the cooperation mechanism of the “Belt and Road” and China-ROK economic cooperation, he called for strengthening China-ROK cooperation in the implementation of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. At present, the North Korea nuclear issue has turned around, and the commonality in China and South Korea's foreign policies and South Korea's close attention to China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative are all good conditions for China-ROK cooperation in the implementation of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. According to the economic situations of China and South Korea, China and South Korea have great prospects for cooperation in such fields as investment, trade, finance and optoelectronics.
