On the afternoon of June 4, 2015, Wang Weiguang, President of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Secretary of the Party Group of CASS, inspected and guided the work of Shanghai Academy.

Wang Weiguang, accompanied by Li Peilin, Vice President of CASS and Member of the Party Group of CASS, Luo Hongjie, President of Shanghai University, Li Youmei, Vice President of Shanghai University, Wen Xueguo, Vice President of the Graduate School, CASS, and other related personnel, went to Shanghai Academy which was located in the Beida Building at Yanchang Campus of Shanghai University to inspect its premises.

Later, Wang Weiguang held a forum on the construction of Shanghai Academy in the conference room at the Lehu Building of Shanghai University and made an important speech. He made it clear that CASS would join hands with Shanghai Municipal People’s Government to build Shanghai Academy into a truly influential and comprehensive research institute of humanities and social sciences with a new operating mechanism on the basis of Shanghai University. He noted that Shanghai Academy must grasp the key points and have a long-range goal during the construction; act deeply, carefully and solidly in the face of substantial work; strive to lay a solid foundation in one year, see results in three years and realize great development in five years with respect to the construction of Shanghai Academy.
