Shanghai Academy is the platform for a new type of high-level and international think tank with Chinese characteristics jointly set up by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. By focusing on the major theoretical and practical issues facing reform and development of China’s socialist characteristics, Shanghai Academy aims to conduct scientific research and decision-making consultation, refining the Shanghai experience, promote regional development, serve national strategies and create an international brand, and to make new contributions with a view to comprehensively deepening the reform and comprehensively improving law-based governance. Shanghai Academy is striving to build itself into an internationally known high-end think tank, a high-end talent cultivation base, a high-end platform for international exchanges and cooperation, and a high-end national situation investigation base (“four high-end bases”)

The core research issues of Shanghai Academy will cover international finance and trade, sustainable urban development, and innovation in social governance, as well as communication of core values. In this regard, it has set up seven research centers in the first phase, including the Modern Finance Research Center, Free Trade Area Research Center, Research Center for the Coordinated Development of Urban and Rural Areas, Research Center for Social Governance in Cities, World Archaeological Research Center, Cultural Development Research Center, as well as a Survey and Data Center.

According to its construction scheme and needs of major research tasks in 2015, Shanghai Academy hereby recruits part-time researchers from Shanghai University for research.

1. An applicant must be a formal regular researcher of Shanghai University;

2. Applicants must have excellent scientific research performance and scientific research credit;

3. The part-time researcher must have a senior professional title, a part-time associate researcher must have a sub-senior professional title, and a young teacher must have a doctorate;

4. Applicants must have research experience related to the annual topics being undertaken by the respective center and be capable of participating in related research project;

IV. Recruitment Method and Process

1. Part-time researchers will mainly be appointed according to project requirements by contractual engagement;

2. The consent from the faculty which the applicant is in will be required for the application;

3. Shanghai Academy will select candidates in accordance with relevant provisions of the Academy concerning recruitment of researchers;

The Scheme on the Construction of a Research System Linking Shanghai University and Shanghai Academy and relevant regulations of Shanghai Academy will be applied for participation by scientific research personnel of Shanghai University.
