On March 14, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Academy, Wen Xueguo, led a delegation to visit Chongming District, where a meeting was held to discuss matters concerning the “Establishment of Friendly Exchanges between Chongming Island and the island of Hawaii”, and the “Planning and Construction of a Cultural and Creative Industrial Park”. The delegation was received by Wu Zhaozhong and Hou Jijun, members of the standing committee of Chongming District Party Committee and deputy mayors of the People’s Government of Chongming District.

At the meeting, both parties discussed relevant matters and exchanged views. Wu Zhaozhong first introduced Chongming District’s construction thinking on building an “International Ecological Island” and expressed that Chongming District would actively support and promote friendship and cooperative projects with foreign countries, and hoped to cooperate with Shanghai Academy, so as to play a positive role in improving the international profile of Chongming Island. Hou Jijun exchanged views with the delegation on Chongming District’s development and construction, and the planning and conception of a “Cultural and Creative Industrial Park”. Wen Xueguo elaborated on the background of the “Cooperation between Shanghai Academy and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government” and relevant matters on forging a high-end think tank. Moreover, he gave full affirmation to Chongming District’s conceptual strategy to build an “International Ecological Island” and develop its cultural industry, and expressed Shanghai Academy’s willingness to provide full theoretical and intellectual support for Chongming District’s future development strategy and industrial development plans.

The abovementioned activities were attended in person by leaders of the Office of the People's Government of Chongming District, the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongming District and the Tourism Bureau of Chongming District, Xie Li, Managing Director of CMC Capital Partners, Li Chunguang, Director of the Cooperation Division of Shanghai Academy, with other relevant persons also in attendance.
