    Shanghai Academy Visits Universities and Think Tanks in Argentina and Brazil

    On May 6-14, Zhao Kebing, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Academy, led a delegation to visit Argentina and Brazil where the delegation conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges on issues concerning research cooperation, think tank construction, and mutual visits of scholars with universities and think tanks of the two countries.

    First stop: CEIL-CONICET

    On May 7, Zhao and his party visited CEIL-CONICET in Buenos Aires, where a meeting was held with CEIL-CONICET Director Guillermo Neiman, Professor Fortunato Mallimaci and other related personal. At the meeting, the two sides reached an intention to roll out research cooperation in fields of sociology, labor relation, urban-rural relation, finance and trade.

    Second stop: CLACSO

    On May 8, Zhao and his party attended the Conference on Cooperation in Science and Sociology held at CLACSO and talked with Professor Pablo Vommar and other related personnel. The two sides exchanged views on topics such as staff composition, project funding sources, research interests, result formation, information construction and so on.

    Third Stop: Sociology Department of the University of Buenos Aires

    Afterwards, the delegation paid a visit to the Sociology Department of UBA where the two sides held talks on issues concerning thesis achievements, philanthropy research, and translation works. During the talks, the two sides further clarified the modes of cooperation and discussed the possibility of attending the Philanthropy Forum to be held in Shanghai on September 5.

    Fourth Stop: Campinas, Brazil

    On May 10-11, the delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the China Research Center and a series of academic seminars held in Campinas, Brazil. The China Research Center is the first one of its kind established by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Latin America. The two sides reached a preliminary agreement through discussions and will develop in-depth cooperation by means of mutual visits and lectures in future to promote the mutual learning between China and Brazil on development issues.

    Tian Feng, Party-time Researcher of Shanghai Academy and Researcher of the Institute of Sociology of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhu Cheng, Director of the Cooperation Division of Shanghai Academy, and Xu Jing, Director of the Modern Philanthropy Research Center of Shanghai Academy accompanied Zhao on the visit.
