On March 31, Shanghai Academy held the 2017 Postgraduate Tutor Symposium to discuss issues concerning how to further perfect the postgraduate training plan, and improve postgraduate education and teaching quality.
Director Yang Huijun from the Secretariat and Director Xiong Hou from the Research Division of Shanghai Academy respectively detailed the organizational structure, objective & positioning and achievements in scientific research of Shanghai Academy. Executive Vice President Nie Yongyou from the School of Economics of Shanghai University and Vice President Liu Yuzhao from the School of Sociology and Political Science of Shanghai University respectively briefed the faculty situation, academic development, postgraduate enrollment, and training quality rankings of the School of Economics and the School of Sociology and Political Science of Shanghai University.
The symposium was attended in person by Professor Xia Jiechang from the National Academy of Economic Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Other visiting CASS attendees include: Professor Zeng Gang from the Institute of Finance and Banking, Professor Fan Ping from the Institute of Sociology, Professor Yu Shuyi from the Institute of Finance and Trade Economics, Associate Professor Zheng Shilin from the Institute of Quantitative & Technical Economics, Associate Professor Wang Chaoyang from the National Academy of Economic Strategy, Associate Professor Wang Zhiyong from the Institute of Population and Labor Economics, and associate professors Lv Peng, Zhang Hao and Zhu Di from the Institute of Sociology. Also attending were: Associate Professor Yuan Hao from the School of Sociology and Political Science of Shanghai University, and professors Yin Feng and Professor Ni Zhongxin and associate professors Yin Yingkai, Han Taixiang, Xu Lingli and Zhan Yubo from Shanghai University’s School of Economics.
At the symposium, all experts and scholars engaged in vigorous discussion on issues arising from the postgraduate training program and entered into issues concerning innovation in the postgraduate training model, training quality evaluation, curriculum construction, training link management, establishment of tutor-student relationship and student self-development, and also put forward well reasoned suggestions.
