Suggestions about Shanghai’s Assumption of the State’s Home Diplomacy Function
[Abstract]
This issue of Key Reference publishes an article entitled Suggestions about Shanghai’s Assumption of the State’s Domestic Diplomacy Function. According to the article, as China has constantly opened up the new situation for great power diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, home diplomacy becomes one of the most active, distinctive, and influential new fields in China’s diplomacy; Shanghai enjoys special advantages and opportunities in assuming the State’s domestic diplomacy function, but has some weaknesses as well. The article gives several suggestions for improvement: First, it suggests Shanghai’s Municipal People’s Government summarize in a relatively fixed form the results of domestic diplomacy in the previous year and deploy the domestic diplomacy tasks of the current year in its annual work report; second, it suggest clearly defining Shanghai as the cradle of China’s domestic diplomacy since the 18th CPC National Congress as well as Shanghai’s dominant role in domestic economic diplomacy; third, it suggests paying greater attention to the pre-process planning and after-process summarization about home diplomacy and fully mobilizing specialized agencies to offer intellectual support; last, in the face of competition, Shanghai must advance domestic diplomacy by giving play to its role in demonstration and sharing.
