Yuan Lei was born in Rongcheng, Shandong Province in April 1980. In 2007, he graduated from the Graduate School of CASS, and received his doctorate. Currently, he acts as Director of the Industrial Operation Research Office of the Institute of Industrial Economics of CASS, Associate Research Fellow, Master’s Supervisor; Member of the Youth League Committee and Director of the Youth Center of CASS and Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the Institute of Industrial Economics of CASS. His research field is industrial economics, and research directions are industrial economic operation, industrial policy evaluation, and business model innovation.
He has published three monographs and three translations, and more than 50 papers in such journals as China Industrial Economics, China Economic Journal and China Soft Science. He has presided over key projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation of China, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Institute of Industrial Economics of CASS, projects authorized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Bureau of Statistics, and other research subjects. A multiple of his major reports have been commented on by the Premier of the State Council and Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
He has won nearly 10 provincial and ministerial awards, including the award of the Jiang Yiwei Enterprise Reform and Academic Development Fund, Special Award for Excellent Countermeasure Information of CASS, and the Special Award for Excellent Scientific Research Achievements of CASS. Under his leadership, his research room won the honors of “Youth Civilization Unit of Central State Organs” and “Youth Civilization Unit of CASS” in 2011 and 2012.
