PhD from Peking University, majored in sociology.
AREA OF EXPERTISE
Main research fields include: industrialization and development of township enterprises, grassroots-level election, migrants and new urban immigrants, and Taiwanese businessmen in the Chinese mainland. He has independently presided over two subjects supported by the National Social Science Foundation of China (namely research on collective property rights and "village community” during urbanization, and research on the issue of integration of migrant workers into cities), two provincial and ministerial subjects, and two international cooperation subjects.
WORK EXPERIENCE
As a principal member, he has presided over such large-scale survey studies as the survey for Shanghai in 2008 of China Family Panel Studies, and immigrant population service and management in Ningbo. He has independently or jointly published four academic monographs, including Organizational Change during Rural Industrialization, published more than 20 academic papers in such journals as the Journal of Sociology Study, Social Sciences in China (Internal circulation) and the Chinese Journal of Sociology, many of which were reprinted by Social Science in China, Chinese Social Science Digest, and Sociology of materials reprinted in the Information Center for Social Science of RUC. He has won the second prize of the 12th Teaching and Research Award for Outstanding Young Teachers in Higher Education Institutions of Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation under the Ministry of Education, Outstanding Internal Discussion Achievement Prize of the 10th Shanghai Award for Outstanding Philosophical and Social Science Achievements, the second prize of the 8th Shanghai Award for Outstanding Research and Publicity Achievements for Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the Shanghai Yucai Award, and was elected to the Shanghai “Dawn Program”. He has acted as a visiting scholar at Duke University and the University of Wyoming in the US, and at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and currently serves as Professor and Vice President of the School of Sociology and Political Science of Shanghai University.
