EDUCATION

Li Yang graduated with a BA in economics from Anhui University in 1981, an MA in economics at Fudan University in 1984, and a PhD in economics at Renmin University in 1989. He was a visiting scholar at Columbia University from 1998 to1999. Li’s main research fields are monetary theories, financial theories and finance.

POSITION

Li was Vice President of CASS, member of the leading Party group of CASS, first-batch CASS member, research fellow and PhD candidate supervisor, deputy to the 12th National People's Congress, member of the NPC Financial and Economic Committee, Vice President of China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, member of the Monetary Policy Committee in the People’s Bank of China. He was elected as academician of the International Academy of Sciences for Europe and Asia (IASEA) in 2011.

He is currently Vice President of the China Society for Finance & Banking, Vice President of the China Public Finance Society, Vice President of the China International Finance Society, Vice President of the China Urban Financial Society and Vice President of the China Association of Marine Affairs.

WORK EXPERIENCE

He is a five-time winner of theSun Yefang Economic Science Awardfor excellent works and papers. He has published and translated 23 books and over 400 articles. He edited six major finance reference books. He has also chaired more than 40 national and ministerial-level research projects and international collaborative projects.
