On March 21, Yuan Jianguo, Inspector of the CPC Shanghai Social Work Committee, and his party visited Shanghai Academy to hold talks on cooperation in social construction-related fields. Li Youmei, the First Vice President of Shanghai Academy, chaired the meeting.

During the talks both sides focused on how to combine social construction practice and academic research. According to Li Youmei, localization of academic research can never be realized if simply relying on the concepts and methodologies of the west, and academic research and practice must be closely combined. The think-tank is duty-bound to provide government decision-makers with a timely consulting service by strengthening cooperation with functional government departments. When it came to the research keys of social construction, Li anticipated that Shanghai’s economic structural transformation and upgrading will be reflected in future social structure adjustments, which shall receive keen attention. According to Yuan Jianguo, the Shanghai Social Work Committee hopes to strengthen cooperation with Shanghai Academy, so as to realize mutually rewarding cooperation.

Fang Shixiong, Director, and Zhong Hua, Deputy Director of the Social Construction Division of the CPC Shanghai Social Work Committee, and Xiong Hou, Director of the Research Division of Shanghai Academy, attended the meeting.
