On the afternoon of October 18, 2015, a delegation comprising of scholars from Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Bulgaria, represented by Andrzej Rychard, Director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and a Chinese scholar delegation, represented by Zhao Kebin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Sociology of CASS, and Ji Weimin, Director of Secretariat of Shanghai Academy, visited Xincheng Social Work Service Center, Taicang, in the company of Wang Chunguang, researcher with the Institute of Sociology of CASS.

During the visit, the social workers at Xincheng Service Center, divided into two groups respectively for the Chinese and foreign delegations, introduced the setup background, vision, values, current work and services of Xincheng, as well as the community where it is located, and answered every question raised by the scholars. The scholars also visited urban residential communities and neighboring rural communities. The foreign scholars said they had gained deeper understanding of China’s communities, community social work and traditional culture through the visit and comparison between the urban and rural living environment.

The visit came to a successful end after two hours of exchanges, and produced good results. Xincheng’s working and service mode won recognition from Wang Chunguang and other scholars. Meanwhile, the scholars also offered precious opinions and suggestions, which will help Xincheng improve services and realize specialized development in the future.
