Shanghai Strengthens Its Global City Brand Influence at 1st SCO Media Summit

    【Abstract】

This issue of the Key Reference publishes an article entitled Shanghai Strengthens Its Global City Brand Influence at the 1st SCO Media Summit. The article points out that in 2018, China will serve as the Rotating Presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and hold a summit in June. President Xi Jinping has proposed to hold the 1st Media Summit of the SCO during the meeting, which is of great significance. Shanghai shall take the initiative to host the 1st Media Summit of the SCO. This is a beneficial entry point for Shanghai to make its contribution in advancing the “Belt and Road” initiative and building a “community of human destiny”. The article gives the following suggestions for better holding the 1st Media Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. First, in addition to media elites, expert representatives from journalism and communication colleges of SCO countries, and even some student representatives must also be invited to the meeting; second, the "SCO youth reporter exchange and training course” must be proposed to be held in the summit; third, the "Belt and Road" media observer mission must be proposed to be organized in the summit to investigate typical cases in the construction of the " Belt and Road"; fourth, it must be an initiative of the summit to set up a “community of human destiny” news prize ("Community News Prize” for short).
