CEC was initiated by the young scholars from universities and scientific research institutes both at home and abroad, including CASS, Harvard University, University of Toronto, Peking University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Upholding a low-key and plain academic style, it works to pool the high-level and thoughtful academic papers with exquisitely selected topics, novel stories and careful explanation, and aims to provide domestic young economic scholars with a high-level and specialized platform for academic exchanges, and improve the level of economic research at home.

CEC Seminar is a small-scale academic seminar launched by CEC in Shanghai. It has been held for eight sessions thanks to the generous support from the co-organizer, vigorous efforts of the conference staff, selfless contribution by guest speakers and enthusiastic participation by the audiences. Great headway has been made in our academic exchanges, which started from scratch and develops to a certain scale at present. To better advance the research and exchanges on economics in Shanghai, the 9th CEC Seminar will be held at Shanghai Academy in the middle to last ten days of September 2017.

Shanghai Academy is a research institute jointly set up by CASS and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government on June 5, 2015. Based in Shanghai and serving the nation, Shanghai Academy aims to build itself into a high-end think tank, a high-end talent cultivation base, a high-end platform for international exchanges and cooperation, and a high-end national situation investigation base (“four high-end bases”) by centering on the major theories and practical issues about the socialist reform and development with Chinese characteristics and making use of the advantages of CASS in scientific research and policy consulting.

Both the teachers and students in Shanghai and surrounding areas (including the scholars who come to Shanghai for visits or exchanges) are welcome to the seminar. The reporting time for each paper is about 45 minutes, including free discussions. Six papers can be discussed at the seminar each day.

The deadline for submitting contributions is September 13. The conference team will provide the scope of papers before September 10 for audiences to register. The conference site generally can accommodate 30-40 attendees.
