Set up in May 2017, the Modern Charity Research Center of Shanghai Academy is a research-oriented think tank affiliated to Shanghai Academy. It centers on the core socialist values, and is dedicated to research on the frontier theories about the development of modern charity and their application. We hereby publicize the guide for the ten research projects to be carried out in 2017, and welcome application.

I. Project Guide

(I) Research on the legal environment for China’s charity development

(II) Research on the development of enterprises and charity (enterprise

social responsibility)

(III) Research on communities and charity (old-age care, health,

community charity organizations and community foundations, etc.)

(IV) Research on charity and taxation

(V) Research on public welfare charity communication from the

perspective of new media

(VI) Research on China’s charity organizations and targeted poverty

alleviation

(VII) Research on charity and volunteers

(VIII) Research on charity trust

(IX) Research on charity innovation (charity technologies, social

enterprises, social impact investment)

(X) Research on charity culture

The said projects are for the guiding purposes and only specify the theme and direction of research. Applicants can design detailed names of projects on such a basis. Applications without clear targets or questions of research will not be addressed.

Each project report will contain 40,000 words at least.

II. Requirements for Application

(I) Applicants must be qualified for the conditions to complete the research projects, and the persons in charge of the projects must have relatively great academic attainments in relevant charity research fields, and have associate senior titles or above, or doctoral degrees in principle.

(II) Applicants must fill in the Letter of Application for the Projects of the Modern Charity Research Center of Shanghai Academy , and send the letter (in triplicate) to the Modern Charity Research Center of Shanghai Academy, and also send an electronic version to shyjy@oa.shu.edu.cn.

(III) The application deadline is July 20, 2017.

(IV) The Modern Charity Research Center of Shanghai Academy will organize an expert panel to review project applications and select the best ones. After the results are determined, it will sign official contracts with the selected organizations (individuals).

III. Project Funds

The Modern Charity Research Center of Shanghai Academy will provide funds to the organizations (individuals) that execute project research, and the fund for each project is RMB100,000.

IV. Period of Project Execution

The period of project execution lasts from the date of contract signing to December 2017. The project undertaking organization shall receive the interim evaluation by the Modern Charity Research Center of Shanghai Academy, and submit the final research results before December 30, 2017.
